Sabbath Rosh Chodesh Iyar

My Saturday evening comment on
Shabbat: The Portal in Time:

This is a human and AI masterpiece! Thank you so much, Professor Hanson. It hits me just perfectly while I am resting in bed as sunset approaches at the conclusion of Shabbat Rosh Chodesh Iyar 5786. (I am a Gentile in upstate NY keeping a Sabbath "Lite," so YouTube is allowed on Shabbat for just this kind of experience.)

On a side note, I am making my way through your book with Zev Garber on Jesus and Judaism. Your introduction was very powerful. I've taken a lot of Panim el Panim classes with MJTI since 2023 and I am still not convinced Messianic Judaism is a more appropriate descriptor for the movement than Jewish Christianity. As a Gentile ally of Israel and Jewish self-determination, it doesn't feel right for me to override the consensus rabbinic definition of Judaism just because a small minority of Jewish believers in Jesus say they are authentic rabbis. On the other hand, I certainly don't want to argue that Mark Kinzer and the rest of the UMJC are not real Jewish rabbis! That feels un-American and antisemitic. Who am I as a Gentile to say Mark Kinzer is not a legitimate Jewish rabbi? Perhaps you address this conundrum in your book. If not, I'd be glad to hear your take.

But that is a sidenote. The main point of my comment is an expression of deep appreciation for your Shabbat master(time)peace!

I am glad I am a subscriber to your channel and look forward to future segments.
