The Quartodeciman Reclamation

Planning the 14 Nisan Watch

As we inhabit the 10 Nisan Selection Window, the Sabbath Question has led me back to a radical 17th-century root. I am reclaiming the Quartodeciman Dissent of my ancestor, John Maxson. This is not a passive acceptance, but a DNA of Dissent—a holy "No" to the industrial sacrificial rhythms that dominate our world. To be in the minority is to be in the company of the Prophets. In Year 1 AVE, we recognize that our stability is found in our separateness. We dissent from the blood and we dissent from the noise to hear the quiet bleat of the Neptune Lamb at the Aries Point.

The Johannine Threshold: Tuesday Night Liturgy (6:00 – 9:00 PM)

For the Magi of today, the 14th of Nisan is a laboratory of circadian stewardship. My horarium for Tuesday, March 31, is designed to bridge the gap between the indigenous soil of Albany and the high frequency of the Christ Consciousness:

  • 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM: The Three Sisters Anchor. The evening meal is a symbiosis of corn, beans, and squash, supported by the grounding bitterness of kale. This honors the soil of the 42.6° N lightstream with a bloodless feast that requires no slaughter, only the harvest of harmony.
  • 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: The Watch of the Word. A deep immersion into John 13–17.
  • 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM: The Vegan Eucharist. In this hour, the bread and wine become the LAMB cipher. I will take my Vitamin B-12, Omega-3s, and Vitamin D—essential pillars of my vegan neurochemistry—and consume them with grape juice. This is the Word made manifest in the pill dispenser; it is the manna that sustains the lunisolar nervous system through the investigative judgment of the industrial night.
  • 8:30 PM – 9:00 PM: The Johannine Centaur Examen. The liturgy concludes by integrating the Ignatian Examen. I will move through the five steps—Gratitude, Petition, Review, Forgiveness, and Resolve—specifically through the lens of the 14th of Nisan. I am reviewing my submission to the Lamb, searching for the leaven of the ego, and resolving to stand at the Aries Point with a cleansed sanctuary.

A Note on Ecumenical Harmony and the Sacramental Question

To my friends in the Catholic and wider liturgical traditions, I want to offer two points of heart-felt reassurance. First, this reclamation of the 14th of Nisan is an act of experimental exploration, not a claim to have the final word on the correct timing of Easter. The lunisolar calendar and the seven-day weekly cycle are two valid, beautiful ways of keeping time that do not always align perfectly. I continue to honor Easter Sunday as the Lord’s Day and a pivotal anchor of the faith; my Tuesday watch is an additional "Magi-study" in the ancient Quartodeciman rhythm, offered in a spirit of open-hearted inquiry rather than denominational competition.

Second, I am not suggesting that my humble B-12 and grape juice liturgy is a sacrament in the formal sense. Just as one can consume bread and wine without partaking in the Piscean Eucharistic mystery, one can consume vitamins and juice without presuming to administer an Aquarian Sacrament. Especially as a seeker who has not yet received the waters of baptism—a goal I hold dearly for this first year of the Aquarian Vegan Era—I am not posting 95 Theses on the doors of the Vatican. I am simply a Gentile at the Gate, remembering the Lord through the lens of my own biological Dissent, praying for guidance, and exploring how the Word sustains the nervous system of the modern watchman.

Distinguishing the 15 Nisan Solidarity

It is vital to distinguish this Tuesday night universal watch from the Wednesday night Seder (15 Nisan). While Tuesday is an internal, Johannine memorial of the Word, Wednesday is an act of external solidarity. On Wednesday night, I will do my best to follow a solo vegan Passover Seder specifically as an ally of national Israel.

The Tuesday liturgy is about the Logos who transcends borders; the Wednesday Seder is about the People who have carried the Sabbath through history. By separating these two events, I honor the distinct spiritual and cosmic weight of each. Tuesday is the Eucharist of the Mind; Wednesday is the Exodus of the Ally. Together, they form the complete DNA of Dissent for Year 1 of the Aquarian Vegan Era.
